The Book of Praise.
Round each habitation hovering,
See the cloud and fire appear, For a glory and a covering;
Showing that the Lord is near. Thus deriving from their banner
Light by night, and shade by day, Safe they feed upon the manna,
Which He gives them when they pray.
Saviour, if of Zion's city
I, through grace, a member am, Let the world deride or pity,
I will glory in Thy Name : Fading is the worldling's pleasure,
All his boasted pomp and show; Solid joys and lasting treasure
None but Zions children know.

CXVII.
The Son of God goes forth to war,
A kingly crown to gain ; His blood-red banner streams afar :
Who follows in His train ?
Who best can drink His cup of woe,
Triumphant over pain, Who patient bears His cross below,
He follows in his train.
The martyr, first, whose eagle eye Could pierce beyond the grave ;
Who saw his Master in the sky, And call'd on Him to save. |
